Two months into 2026 and fresh off the heels of the Dallas Apparel Market and Magic Vegas Trade shows it's time to hunker down and make some projections on what the top 3 trends of 2026 will be.
1.) Patriotic
Patriotic tees selling in January? Yes indeed, already at the top of the purchasing bucket list are cute patriotic tees and dresses for the 250th anniversary of the USA. This is the type of event boutiques can only dream about, an opportunity unlike most others that shines a light on small town boutiques. Surely we are getting to see some stripes and stars adorn tops and blouses but will it go beyond that? My answer is yes, a big yes. I think we are going to see patch work patriotic trends, floral and animal mixes and plenty of out-there patriotic prints and 250 numbers across a variety of tops, dresses and pants.
2.) Floral
For the 4th year in a row floral retains its top dawg status as one of the main trends boutiques are stocking up on. Embellished with some binding, floral blouses and dresses are already moving off the shelves. Not too small, not too larger, I'm seeing ditsy florals, medium size florals and vibrant prints do really well.
It's always a rule of thumb to count on a good trend to have a 4 year life cycle so I'm expecting this trend to fade late 2026. However before that happens it will likely go on some wacky and robust trend that signals the top. Look for that wacky trend to emerge soon and be sure to capitalize on it for your boutique.
3.) Dresses
I'm know Nostradamus but I'm predicting It's going to be a hot summer and people will be out and about this summer. If that's the case then dresses should make a huge splash in this years round of trends. In particular I believe Maxi dresses will be peaking out as a top trend. Expect stripes and florals to be adorning these dresses!
